The NSW Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation is accepting applications for the 2005 Women’s Sport Leaders Scholarship Program.

The program aims to develop and extend the skills, knowledge and networks of women in sport, recreation and physical activity organisations in NSW with a view to

·                improving opportunities for them within their sport

·                assisting them facilitate change in their sport

·                improve opportunities for women and girls to participate in sport and recreation

 Scholarships are available in three categories:

·                Sports Management and Leadership

o        5 day professional development course including the Department’s It’s Your Business risk management program

o        3 courses/year with 15 participants in each (plus an extra group of 15 in Western region in 2005)

o        paid in full by Dept

o        courses will run from April to September 2005

·                International Travel

o        3 scholarships of $3,000 to attend an international conference, working party meeting or training opportunity.

·                Coach and Official Development

o        20 scholarships of $500 to attend accredited coach or official training programs.
